New URC Driver and Addition of Simple API Improve Ease of Integration for Installers
Award-winning Hi-Res Distributed Audio Platform Continues to Expand Control Options for IoT Applications
ISE 2019, Amsterdam, NL, 31
Simple API
As IoT grows in popularity, more self-programmable and user-friendly control systems have emerged, allowing those with limited programming abilities or modest project scope to quickly and easily implement aspects of BluOS with smart home keypads or device controllers.
A variety of playback controls are now available as simple API calls, including play, pause, skip, back, volume controls for individual players and groups of players, play present, among others. Full documentation of the simple API commands will be available on the BluOS.net website in early Spring 2019.
New URC Driver
URC installers can now access a robust list of commands when integrating BluOS into URC projects. Combining the best of BluOS’s comprehensive music management functionality with URC’s easy programmability, installers can design and deliver projects that include:
• Full support for browsing music services and local content, including comprehensive content search
• Access to context menus for additional functionality like adding songs to a playlist, or other advanced features
• Full play queue support and management
• Programmable presets
• Rich metadata display, including cover art, player state, and progress bar
• Access to Bluetooth as a source for playback
• Control over grouping players
“The new driver represents a ground-up rebuild,” says Andrew Haines, BluOS Product Manager. “We are always looking for ways to enhance the music control experience across the platform. In the years since the first URC driver for BluOS was created, user expectations in the Internet-of-Things space have become more sophisticated and it was important for us that we help our URC customers stay current with these trends.”
The new URC driver will be on demonstration at Lenbrook’s BluOS stand #15-B236 at the Integrated Systems Europe show in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, February 5-9, 2019 at the RAI.
